Born in Scotland and raised in South Africa, Erin McKnight now lives in Dallas. She holds an A.A. in liberal arts from the University of Hawaii, and a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland. This summer she will complete her MFA in creative writing, with a specialization in fiction.
In 2006 she joined The Rose & Thorn Literary Journal as an assistant editor in fiction and nonfiction, and is currently on the editorial board as a fiction editor for her college's literary journal. A writing instructor for the Long Story Short School of Writing, Erin developed a course called "Fiction in a Flash."
As an independent contractor for Tutor.com, the world's premier online tutoring company, Erin works with students ranging from the fourth grade to college level in English and essay writing.
Her own writing has appeared in: Siren: A Literary & Art Journal, Ginosko Literary Journal, DiddleDog, The Bergen Street Review, The Flask Review, Flashquake, PRECIPICe, Why Vandalism?, and The Houston Literary Review, among others.
Erin's essay, "Absolution," is held by the Scottish Mining Museum and has been nominated for the Best of the Web anthology, and more recently a Pushcart Prize. She is currently at work on a collection of short stories centering on a Scottish coal mine.
