Bio: Brian Giberson has been a professional artist his entire life, working as a freelance illustrator, computer artist, animator, art director, jeweler, portrait sculptor and art instructor. All of his past disciplines contribute to the unique approach he has to his current work as a mixed media artist. He finds that the mixed media title suits him best because of the freedom it allows in using any material in a wide variety of techniques and styles. His artwork features a variety of unusual materials such as hammered copper, old paper currency, vintage kimono fabric, distressed metal, random but carefully-selected found objects Anything that captures his interest and contributes to the feeling he is attempting to evoke is considered. He is fascinated by the use of layers of image and symbols that resonate with the viewer on a universal level, bypassing the filters of culture, the conscious mind, and reductionist perceptions. He attempts to connect with the viewer as a co-author of wonder, in the child like, feeling, and dreaming part of the mind: his is art to reflect on, and art to dream on. Brian showcases his work in art shows and art festivals with his wife Sheri Cohen, under the name Indigo Lights. For past work and show schedules, visit www.indigolights.com.
